Dear Fellow American Soldier:
You are the very definition of Hero. A genuine protector. A guardian of independence.
You are the reason we sleep more securely at night.
Without you, this country and World would not be the beautiful and secure place it is today.
You stand at the ready, prepared for the worst; going to battle if freedom is threatened.
You shoot and take fire, safeguard your fellow comrades; but most importantly, fight the good fight.
You make sacrifices and endure things only some can imagine; you voluntarily put your own life in harm's way for the sake of the greater good of not only our Nation, but for the World's security as a whole.
You sometimes lose limbs, yet continue in struggle to meet your objectives and complete unimaginable missions only the Soldier in you can finish. You often lose friends, but are emboldened to honor them in memory and purpose.
You consider the battlefield a place of emancipation, not an arena for politics. You give hope to those who've never had it before and instill it in those that take it for granted.
You restore order. You bring shelter and harmony to the hearts of millions of people.
You represent freedom.
You're a dedicated professional. You work under the most stringent of pressures that the human mind can endure, yet you never give up.
You are a hero among heroes; the shepherd among sheep; the messenger of hope when it seems all is lost. May the blessings of the Almighty beset upon you Victory in great glory, for your servitude is an example that transcends all that these meager words can convey: Thank you, and God Bless.
[ I ask and call upon all grateful Americans to volunteer time or donate a gift to our fearless heroes in honor of their service this Christmas. At the very least, take the time to write a letter to a soldier currently serving around the world to share with them our gratitude for their courage and sacrifice.]
